A rare and exciting opportunity has opened up in the Dermatology department at Clifton hospital for a full-time healthcare assistant.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and competent individual who can show initiative and work proactively.
The department is diverse with a wide variety of clinics, requiring the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
The treatments we apply to patients require staff to be able to use moving and handling techniques capably and can involve substantial physical exertion.

JOB SUMMARY:
To provide specialised care for patients on the dermatology/rheumatology unit under the direct or remote supervision of registered practitioners.
To work in the busy dermatology/rheumatology daycase unit autonomously, running various dermatology and rheumatology outpatient clinics.
To use personal efficiency and knowledge to contribute to the development and delivery of a quality service. To be self-motivated and use initiative when necessary.
To undertake the hospital’s in-house training for HCAs and maintain an agreed level of competence.
To ensure a high standard of care for all patients through effective communication with patients, carers, and the wider healthcare team.
To work proactively as a member of the multi-disciplinary and multi-professional healthcare team, with the support of registered practitioners.
To be flexible, as the post holder may work in different clinical areas across the trust.
To undertake a range of procedures relevant to the clinical sphere of responsibility, including:
1. Venepuncture
2. Wound care management
3. Bandaging
4. Undertaking idrionics treatment
5. Removal of patch tests

Additional responsibilities include:
1. Greeting patients and answering the phone
2. Chaperoning in Doctors and CNS clinics, completing paperwork for fast track clinics and understanding clinic outcomes
3. Working on the day case unit, including applying topical treatments, wound care, leg dressing, and bandaging
4. Removing patch tests competently
5. Completing biopsy pack paperwork for theatre
6. Completing skin assessment tools for patients in clinic
7. Performing venepuncture on a daily basis within clinics
8. Printing bloodcards
9. Assisting in rheumatology consultant clinics
10. Stocking all consulting rooms with required paperwork
