Are you a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals in palliative care? An exciting job opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Multi-disciplinary Specialist Palliative Care Team covering the community in South East and Central Northumberland.
The successful candidate will have extensive postgraduate experience with an interest in Palliative Care. They must be confident working autonomously without direct supervision and possess the skills to guide and support others, such as Occupational Therapy students and technical instructors. Main duties of the job
1. Provide a comprehensive Specialist Occupational Therapy service to patients with palliative care needs.
2. Prioritise service provision in the specialised area and ensure effective delivery within resource constraints.
3. Practice within a multidisciplinary team, delivering specialist assessments, diagnoses, and treatments using clinical reasoning skills.
4. Manage a defined caseload of patients, often with highly complex needs, using evidence-based clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
5. Undertake complex assessments and therapeutic interventions both in patients' homes and hospitals.
6. Provide leadership for junior and support staff through supervision and mentoring.
7. Conduct appraisals with junior and support staff as delegated by the Line Manager.
8. Participate in planning, developing, and evaluating Occupational Therapy services within the designated area, taking responsibility for specific projects.
9. Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Occupational Therapy service.
10. Supervise undergraduate Occupational Therapy students on practice placements and participate in placements for other professionals.
