The Role:
As the Assistant Shift Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in our operations, working closely with Shift Managers to ensure every shift runs smoothly and efficiently! Responsibilities:
* Service Success: You’ll be the driving force in exceeding the company’s service success rate targets during your shift, making sure we deliver exceptional service every time!
* New Client Jobs: You’ll be key to ensuring that the first jobs for new clients are completed successfully, leaving a lasting positive impression and setting the standard for future work.
* Operational Response Time: You’ll take charge by achieving a quick response time of just one hour for any job-related issues or problems during your shift—fast action, great results!
* Job Reallocation & Resource Management: You’ll work closely with Shift Managers to reallocate jobs, ensuring smooth operations in case of staff absences or vehicle breakdowns with minimal disruption to service.
* Driver Coordination: You’ll be the go-to person for our drivers, helping them resolve any on-road issues, supporting them in real-time, and making sure they have everything they need to succeed.
* Vehicle Management: You’ll maintain an accurate, real-time record of vehicle availability and usage, helping us stay organised and prepared for every shift.
* Monitoring High-Priority Jobs: You’ll stay in constant contact with drivers handling high-priority jobs, making sure everything goes as planned and solving any problems that come up.
* New Client Onboarding: Working closely with the mobilisation team, you’ll help onboard new clients, ensuring their first jobs are a smooth and seamless experience.
* Support to Management: You’ll be a key support to managers, assisting with various tasks and stepping in to cover for Shift Managers during holidays or absences.
About you:
To thrive in this role, you should bring:
* Experience in Shift Management or Logistics: Have a proven track record in managing operations, assigning jobs, and handling challenges effectively in a logistics or transport setting? You’ll feel right at home here!
* Strong Problem-Solving Skills: You’ll be the go-to person for tackling issues head-on and finding quick solutions, especially when it comes to real-time operational scenarios that need immediate attention.
* Excellent Communication Skills: Communication is key! Your ability to clearly and effectively liaise with both drivers and internal teams will ensure everything runs like clockwork.
* IT Proficiency: You’ll be comfortable using systems to manage and track vehicles, jobs, and issues, and you’ll have a solid understanding of logistics or fleet management software to help you stay organised and efficient.
* Team Player: You’ll collaborate seamlessly with different departments, always ready to pitch in and provide support to the management team when necessary.
* Reliability and Flexibility: Early shifts (03:00 – 12:30, Mon – Fri) won’t faze you, and you’ll be ready to take on any additional tasks that help the team succeed.
