Volunteer Treasurer Opportunity – Albion & Bolton Agricultural Society
The Albion & Bolton Agricultural Society is currently seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our team as a Volunteer Treasurer. As a valued member of our volunteer-led organization, you will play a key role in helping us manage the financial health of our association and ensure the continued success of our beloved community events, including the Bolton Truck & Tractor Pull (held each June) and the Bolton Fall Fair (held each September).
Role Overview:
As the Treasurer, you will oversee the financial operations of the Albion & Bolton Agricultural Society. This role is an essential part of our organization, ensuring we maintain transparency and accountability in all financial matters. The position involves working closely with the Board of Directors to maintain accurate records, manage budgets, and support the financial aspects of our events and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Record-Keeping: Maintain and update the Society’s financial records, ensuring all transactions are documented and classified accurately.
2. Monthly Reporting: Prepare and present monthly financial reports at Board meetings, outlining income, expenses, and balances.
3. Budget Management: Assist in preparing and managing the annual budgets for the organization and its events, ensuring financial goals are met.
4. Event Support: Provide financial oversight for both the Bolton Truck & Tractor Pull and Bolton Fall Fair, which will require additional time and attention leading up to and during the events.
5. Reconciliation: Ensure monthly reconciliation of bank accounts and financial statements.
6. Tax Filing & Compliance: Ensure that all necessary filings and reports are completed in accordance with non-profit regulations and tax requirements.
7. Honorarium Management: Oversee the disbursement of any small honorariums or reimbursements as needed.
Qualifications:
1. Financial Background: Previous experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping is strongly preferred.
2. QuickBooks Knowledge: Proficiency with QuickBooks or a similar accounting software is an asset, though we are open to training the right candidate.
3. Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are critical to this role.
4. Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with other Board members, volunteers, and event partners.
5. Commitment: We estimate the time commitment to be approximately 10 hours per month, with additional hours required during the months of our major events (June and September). Attendance at monthly meetings and occasional event-related tasks will be required.
Time Commitment:
1. Approximately 10 hours per month for regular duties.
2. Increased hours required during event months (June for the Truck & Tractor Pull, September for the Fall Fair).
3. Monthly attendance at Board meetings, typically held in the evening.
Honorarium:
While this is a volunteer position, a small monthly honorarium is provided to acknowledge the time and effort involved.
