A leading manufacturing engineering business requires a Buyer to support direct procurement activity for manufacturing. Applicants should be outgoing, self-motivated professionals with a background in procurement as a Buyer.
The Buyer will join a large and supportive procurement team enjoying a period of growth. Procurement activity will focus on direct commodity areas for manufacturing. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, so the Buyer will collaborate closely with the supply chain to ensure continuity of supply to achieve production schedules.
Specific duties of the Buyer will include:
1. Review, confirm availability and process purchase requisitions
2. Liaison with internal departments to drive through any QCD and planning requirements
3. End-to-end supplier order book management
4. Supplier Relationship Management and development activities around OTD/OTIF metrics/KPIs
5. Maintain procurement department data within MRP and MS Excel
6. Escalate and expedite material shortage issues
7. Identify and qualify new suppliers for Ad-hoc requirements
8. Drive productivity opportunities with supply base to deliver cost out goals
Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
1. Purchasing/procurement experience as a Junior Buyer, Buyer or Senior Buyer
2. Supplier management skills and the ability to manage supplier accounts and order books
3. Data analysis skills, with experience in the use of MS Excel and/or an MRP system
4. Accustomed to producing reports and KPIs for stakeholders
5. Enthusiastic, adaptable and motivated team players
6. Time management skills and the ability to manage competing demands
7. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
