CET is looking for an experienced Software Engineer who wants to remain deeply hands-on that is looking to step-up into a leadership role. As the Engineering Manager, you will spend most of your time designing, writing, and reviewing code while also dedicating time to mentoring engineers, improving engineering practices, and identifying skill gaps and development opportunities.
You will work closely with the product managers, ensuring that the team operates efficiently while fostering a culture of growth and technical excellence. This is an ideal role for an engineer who wants to take their first steps into leadership while continuing to build and ship great software.
Role and Responsibilities
•Leading by example, you’ll champion engineering best practices, architectural principles, and coding standards to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
•Lead and inspire: Guide a talented team of engineers to deliver exceptional results, fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and technical excellence.
•Mentor and develop: Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering their professional growth and development through regular feedback, mentorship, and career development opportunities.
•Work with the Product Managers to ensure that the team to execute against the product roadmap
•Influence and advocate: Contribute to strategic decisions, advocate for your team's needs, and drive change to enhance the team's effectiveness and impact.
•Work alongside our amazing Principal Engineer to help lead the team and delivery of our high-quality software platform.
•Implement best practices and process improvements to streamline the development cycle, ensure code quality, and minimise defects.
•Stay up-to-date on the latest software development trends and technologies
•Report to senior management on the team's progress, achievements, and challenges, and recommend solutions and improvements as needed.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
The ideal candidate for this position should have the following qualifications but we accept and value that everyone has had a different journey, so we welcome applicants that haven’t followed the traditional path.
•Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering.
•5 years of experience in software development
•Any previous management or leadership role a plus.
•Strong understanding of Agile with Scrum.
•In depth experience of software development tools and processes, including version control systems (e.g., Git), automated testing frameworks, and continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.Essential and Desirable Skills
•Experience with Azure.
•Experience with frontend technologies, such as React, Angular, or Vue.
•Knowledge of database technologies, such as SQL or Cosmos DB
•Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to make sound judgments under pressure.
•Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
•Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and influence decision-making.
•Excellent leadership and management skills, including the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop team members.
