This successful startup is looking for a talented back-end web developer, ideally using Python and Django, who already has an eye towards a good user interface and would like to develop their skills in TypeScript / JavaScript and component-based UI libraries and frameworks, such as SolidJS and React.
The company operates in health-tech and produces apps used by patients as part of a guided program developed by medical professionals. Their tech stack includes Rust, Python, Django, TypeScript, and SolidJS. They also use compiler technology for an integral DSL.
You will bring:
1. Good back-end, server-side skills using a language such as Python and a framework such as Django. Adaptable candidates with similar skill sets developed using other languages will also be considered.
2. Experience with a range of programming languages for projects of some scale, ideally web frameworks/libraries with different levels of opinionation, and your own views on those.
3. Experience developing large-scale production web applications, serving volumes of users.
4. A user-focused mindset that shapes your existing development work and influences your interest and attention to front-end development. An awareness that look-and-feel contributes to usability, and the desire to get things “just right” through iteration and following design plans closely.
5. An interest in being part of a multi-skilled team, applying your skills to a range of technical areas towards a common goal.
Any additional experience you have developing mobile apps (iOS and Android, whether hobbyist or professional, native or progressive), in startups, in the medical/healthcare sector, with WebRTC or similar, with Rust, compiler technology, or DSLs would be welcome.
Full existing UK work permission is required, without sponsorship or time-limit. The role is based in the company's west Cambridge offices, commutable by car, with a weekly day of home working plus additional occasional days from home. A competitive salary and package are available to the right candidate.
