Speech & Language Therapy Higher Level Support Practitioner - Adults
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapy Higher Level Support Practitioner. You will have extensive experience of working with Speech and Language Therapy and have worked 1:1 with adult patients who have communication and swallowing needs.
You will work under the direction of qualified Speech and Language Therapists and will be responsible for liaising with adult patients, families and the wider multi-disciplinary team. You will also be responsible for recording activities and liaising with the Speech and Language Therapists and working with other support practitioners.
You will also hold responsibilities as delegated by the Head of Adult SLT such as organising and running meetings for, and supporting with the training and development of the wider SLT Support Practitioner team.
The Speech and Language Therapy Higher Level Support Practitioners sit within a wider adult service with access to a wealth of experience and support. We also benefit from being part of a large Speech and Language Therapy service which includes children's services and a dedicated admin team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to:
1. Assist in providing a service to adults with communication and/or feeding difficulties as delegated to and supervised by Speech and Language Therapists. Any direct work undertaken will be part of a total treatment plan devised by the Speech and Language Therapist.
2. Support with team meetings, training and development of SLT Support Practitioners.
3. Provide support to the team working collaboratively with members of the multi-disciplinary team and contributing positively to the delivery of high-quality compassionate care.
4. Take responsibility for specified areas as delegated by Head of Service.
5. Uphold the fundamental standards of safety and quality always putting the patients first and protecting them from harm.
6. Demonstrate the values of the NHS and commitment to personal and professional development.
