Job Description:
EQUANS are recruiting for a Sustainability Manager to be based in Manchester. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview
The main purpose of the role is to raise the regional profile of energy solutions, including the development of Zero Carbon roadmaps for key client challenges, identifying and working up proposals for clients and consultants with a view to securing profitable Energy Solution offerings. Adhering to regional growth targets for the Sustainability division of the region. Providing guidance to the business on environmental and sustainability issues. This will include extensive working with different departments and teams, providing support and guidance on environment and sustainability issues. To understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy and ensure all employees reporting to you do the same and being responsible for ensuring that SHEQ requirements are upheld to the highest of standards at all times.
Key Accountabilities
* Raise regional profile as a leading provider of Sustainability Solutions - Equans regional partners, sustainability leads to develop Sustainability Solutions that meet the needs/ wants of our customers and colleagues. Create effective partnerships and programs to increase the effectiveness and visibility of our Business Units sustainability work. Find & Secure Profitable Pipeline Identify, develop and secure funding offerings to secure workload with key partners in the region.
* Develop return on investment models to deliver internal contribution and client value.
* Define and identify a structure capable of delivering/supporting a £35M revenue stream (5 Years). Development and management of departmental Key Performance Indicators.
* Lead sustainability behavior and cultural change at Equans NW engaging staff to participate in sustainability initiatives. Motivate and engage colleagues to ensure a collaborative culture consistent with Equans and Client's values. Work with the senior management of business to ensure that sustainability and environmental management are embedded within the organisation.
* Provide and receive information of complex nature relating to energy management, carbon reduction, sustainability and governance matters.
* Develop relationships and partnerships with sustainability stakeholders, influencers and Clients.
* Drive forward innovation- promote V Charge and community heating schemes to all clients including full operational delivery.
* Technical Sustainability Support to Region Covering both new build and refurbishment activities in the region.
* Understanding of Energy Sector To have a wide knowledge and understanding of the Energy & M & E Services Sector and pass this knowledge and learning into the regional teams. Analyse external factors and emerging policy areas in order to identify potential opportunities and risks, always focused on the North West's inclusive, sustainable growth agenda. This will include government funding opportunities.
* Lead and control all relevant functional budgets to ensure governance, value for money and cost.
* Support the Bid Team on technical proposals, analytics and project support.
* Management of PAS/35/MCS approval and compliance to identify and disseminate information on innovation and best practice with regards to sustainability and environmental management, keeping up to date with new and cutting-edge developments in the fields of sustainability and environmental management, ensuring effective communication within Equans.
* On a day-to-day basis provide guidance and advice to the business on environmental and sustainability issues.
* Develop and implement companywide initiatives with regards to environmental management and sustainability.
* To assist our Health & Safety Team with matters relating to environmental management and sustainability.
* Assist the Director of Sustainability in collating and analysing data in relation to Carbon, Waste, Product Procurement and Community initiatives.
* Supply Chain Development - Identify potential opportunities and risks in the supply chain, always focused on the North West's inclusive, sustainable growth agenda. Managing technology assessments suitable for installation in new build and retrofit activity.
* Respond to Business Development tender questions and provide guidance to new business managers as required.
* Provide support and encouragement for development of the SHEQ team.
* Provide reports to the Regional & Operational Board.
* Promote Sustainable Procurement and work towards measurable targets.
* Attend divisional and departmental meetings as required.
* Client interaction as required (through reporting, training and briefings).
* Any other reasonable management request.

Who are we looking for?
* Extensive operational and management experience within the social housing or Local Authority organisation. Experience of sustainability and environmental management, including best and common practice Comprehensive understanding of current and proposed UK sustainability related legislation to project solutions (Building regulations, Local Planning Policy, Zero Carbon and any future regional plans).
* Understanding of the principles of Building Physics as relating to the fabric of existing buildings and the potential consequences of retrofit energy efficiency measures.
* Experience of team leadership and relationship management.
* Experience of standards and systems applicable to FSC, MCS PAS etc.
* Relevant experience of working as part of a senior leadership team.
* Up to date knowledge of UK SHEQ legislation.
* Operation of an ISO, ISO and similar systems.
* Experience of waste management and Duty of Care.
* Ability to work remotely.
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Including Report Writing.
* Track record of developing relationships with Operational leadership and site teams.
* High level of numeracy.
* Retrofit Coordinator or Equivalent.
* Extensive Regional network.
* Worked within a large complex organisation.
* Procurement/Commercial experience.
* Knowledge of corporate sustainability requirements and implementation strategies.
