Job Description
Key responsibilities for a Procurement Manager:
* Create and execute procurement strategies for designated categories (e.g., IT, catering, educational supplies, etc.), ensuring they are aligned with the institution's goals.
* Market analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in the relevant categories.
* Managing supplier relationships to ensure the best prices, quality, and services.
* Ensuring compliance with procurement policies and regulations.
* Lead the tender process for key procurement activities within the assigned category, ensuring compliance with the Public Contracts Regulations (2015) and internal policies.
* Identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities within the procurement process.
* Collaborating with other departments to determine their supply needs.
* Negotiating contracts with suppliers to secure advantageous terms.
* Tracking and reporting key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
* Forecasting price trends and their impact on future activities.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Procurement Manager should have:
* Proven experience as a Procurement Manager or similar role.
* In-depth knowledge and understanding of the Public Contract Regulations 2015.
* A clear understanding and awareness of local government/public sector procurement, including competitive tendering requirements, achievement of best value and the role of procurement in the delivery of best value and efficiency
* Strong negotiation and communication skills.
* Ability to lead, coach, and develop a team.
* Proficiency in relevant software such as Microsoft Office and procurement applications.
