Overview:
Experis have partnered with an organisation which is driving a major transformation focused on data and digital innovation. To support this, a Data Governance Programme Lead is needed to design and implement a structured data governance operating model. This role involves assessing the current landscape, defining requirements, demonstrating value, and fostering internal engagement. ποΈπ
Key Responsibilities:
* π Lead the project, ensuring strategic alignment, risk management, and on-time delivery.

Serve as a key liaison for consultancy teams, validating methodologies and maintaining quality standards.
* π Establish a sustainable data governance framework with clear knowledge transfer processes.
* π€ Champion the initiative, securing stakeholder buy-in and upskilling teams.
Programme Objectives:
* π― Align the project with broader organisational goals.
* ποΈ Ensure strong governance and oversight throughout execution.
* π° Work with the Project Manager to secure approvals and funding.
* π Provide strategic support and guidance to the project team.
* βοΈ Address high-level challenges and mediate stakeholder concerns.
* π Build a compelling internal case for data governance.
Project Objectives:
* π Define clear deliverables, expected outcomes, and success measures.
* π Develop a structured approach to project execution.
* π οΈ Work with the Project Manager to create detailed work plans.
* π Identify necessary resources and expertise.
* π΅ Plan and manage project budgets.
* π’ Implement a strong communication strategy to engage stakeholders.
* β οΈ Identify risks and mitigation plans.

Establish performance evaluation criteria.
* π Create feedback loops for continuous improvement.
Essential Experience and Competencies
* Data Governance & Strategy Expertise π
* Deep knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM, CDMC).
* Experience leading governance initiatives within public sector or geospatial domains.
* Understanding of data management, quality control, and compliance standards.
* Strategic Leadership & Business Change π―
* Ability to integrate data governance with business objectives and secure investment.
* Work closely with change management teams to embed governance as a core business function.
* Programme & Supplier Management π
* Experience in programme/project management methodologies (MSP, Agile, etc.).
* Proven ability to manage external suppliers, ensuring project milestones are met.
* Skilled in budget management, risk assessment, and issue resolution.
* Stakeholder Engagement & Communication π€
* Strong engagement skills with senior leadership and technical teams.
* Ability to bridge technical and business perspectives, translating governance into tangible value.
* Excellent communication and influencing abilities.
Desirable Experience
* βοΈ Experience with data governance in hybrid cloud environments.
* π€ Understanding of AI/ML governance and data readiness.
* ποΈ Experience leading enterprise-wide data governance transformations.
