A great opportunity for a Cyber Security second year student focusing on applying cyber security best practices to a range of cloud services including the Microsoft & Azure security suite. If you are looking for an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and learn on the job about security applications, supporting professional services in London and beyond, then we want to hear from you.
The placement (hybrid working) starts in Summer 2025 and will give you the opportunity to work as part of the IOIT Cyber Security team to provide best-in-class security controls and guidance to IOIT clients. This is a broad role requiring a technical and analytical mind for working on complex systems whilst also being able to liaise with clients clearly to communicate technical information at a non-technical level.
From investigating potential security issues for clients by analysing logs to deploying systems in a secure and compliant manner, there is plenty of scope to develop for the right candidate.
With no ability to plan what security issues may be raised in any day, the opportunity provides a varied role where prioritisation of issues and time management are key.
What you will be doing
* Initial handling and management of security-related tickets from the IOIT client base.
* Implement and manage Microsoft Defender for Endpoint to detect, investigate, and respond to threats and malicious activities.
* Utilise KnowBe4 platform for managed phishing exercises and security awareness training.
* Maintain security policies in Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, Microsoft Intune & Identity Protection to protect endpoints & identities.
* Security & Compliance auditing of IOIT client systems - these include onsite systems as well as cloud-hosted (Office 365 & Azure primarily) systems.
* Security awareness testing of IOIT clients and third parties.
* Assisting in the development and delivery of security awareness programmes.
* Implementation of industry security standards (Cyber Essentials, ISO27001, NIST-800-53 & Cloud Security Alliance CCM).
* Generate reports for both technical and non-technical staff and stakeholders.
* Test and evaluate security products.
* Plan for disaster recovery in the event of any security breaches.
