Diabetes services across University Hospitals Dorset are seeking to recruit a motivated, caring registered nurse who is passionate and committed to delivering safe and effective care to their patients. The Band 6 Diabetes Nurse Specialist works as part of an admission avoidance service, providing inpatient, outpatient and community services for patients with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, transitional diabetes and secondary diabetes.
As a team, we provide highly specialised, expert assessment and review of patients with diabetes. This involves education for patients, relatives, and health care professionals, with emphasis on self-management and optimization of diabetes therapy. Patients are using wearable technology more frequently to help them manage their diabetes and we plan to increase this use over the next few years.
