Job Summary: The post holder will provide a senior leadership role, taking operational responsibility for the delivery of ASD assessments, diagnoses, and interventions for children referred to the 0-5 Autism assessment pathways across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, trialling and testing the impact of early identification and intervention.

* Be responsible for issues relating to clinical and best practice in schools alongside education colleagues.
* Continue to provide direct, highly specialist care for children, their families, and school staff.
Main Duties of the Job:
* Leadership and operational responsibility for the delivery and management of the CDC Autism assessment and intervention team.
* Provide expert clinical advice to system partners.
* Work in collaboration with leads in Health, Education, and Social Care to develop the assessment and intervention pathways and their evaluation.
* Provide line management for identified CDC practitioners.
* Provide highly specialist assessment, contribute to diagnosis, and appropriate intervention for children in Shropshire, Telford, and Wrekin.
* Provide specialist advice, strategies, and clinical reports for children undergoing Autism Diagnostic assessment and follow-up care.
* Work collaboratively with parents/carers, sharing knowledge and skills, and supporting them to develop their understanding of their child's speech, language, and communication difficulties.

Qualifications/Training Essential:
* Holds recognised Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Children's Nursing or Learning Disability Nursing Degree or equivalent.
* Evidence of successful completion of specialist courses up to master's degree or equivalent, or advanced experiential training within Autism.
* Evidence of Leadership or Management Training up to master's degree level or advanced experiential training including in quality improvement methodology, change or project management.
* Evidence of participation in audit or research or user/public involvement processes.
* Holds Health Professions Council or Nursing and Midwifery Council license to practice.
* Registered member of the appropriate Professional College.
Experience Essential:
* Significant experience at post-graduate level working with children and young people with Autism and a range of other developmental needs.
* Extensive experience of completing autism diagnostic assessments which might include delivery of standardised assessments such as ADOS and ADI.
* Extensive experience of working in partnership with education staff in early years/school settings supporting children with a range of needs.
* Extensive experience at post-graduate level of using, analysing, and reporting findings from a variety of tests and formal/informal assessments.
* Extensive experience at post-graduate level of sharing information about diagnosis with parents and non-specialist practitioners.
Knowledge/Skills Essential:
* Highly specialist knowledge of different Autism diagnostic frameworks and assessments, interventions and techniques and ability to evaluate and report their effectiveness.
* Highly specialist knowledge of child development including developmental norms for children 0-5 years and knowledge of how to assess children's development.
* Excellent analytical and reflective skills.
* Excellent organisation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills including observation, listening and empathy.
* Extensive knowledge of national policies and procedures pertinent to child development, early years practice, and early years education.
