Radiation Physics are looking to recruit a new Head of Diagnostic Radiology Physics to lead and develop the scientific support to Diagnostic Imaging departments across Kent and the South East.
The scientific and leadership expertise provided by the post-holder is crucial to the safe and clinically effective delivery of the radiation protection and diagnostic radiology services provided by Radiation Physics.
You will act as an accredited MPE in diagnostic radiology, in addition to being an accredited RPA.
Main duties of the job
The role requires you to deliver a high-level of scientific and leadership expertise that directly impacts on the safety of our staff, patients and visitors to the Trust.
You will be proactive in engaging with staff throughout the organisation to ensure that radiation safety is foremost and that we are delivering the required service levels.

Qualifications
Essential
1. 1st or 2nd class Honours degree in physics or a relevant subject
2. Relevant accredited MSc
3. PhD or equivalent level of knowledge
4. Corporate Membership of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM)
5. HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist
6. RPA2000 certification as a Medical Physics Expert in diagnostic radiology physics
7. RPA2000 certification as a Radiation Protection Adviser (or certification within 12-months, or other time frame as agreed upon appointment)
Desirable
1. RPA2000 certification as a Laser Protection Adviser
Experience / Knowledge
Essential
1. Extensive post-registration clinical experience in radiation physics.
2. Considerable and broad ranging experience acting as a Medical Physics Expert in diagnostic radiology physics.
3. Experience in managing a section/team within a scientific/clinical environment
4. Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of radiation dosimetry, diagnostic unit technology, radiation protection technology, quality assurance and computer systems in radiation physics, sufficient to act as a Medical Physics Expert in these areas.
5. Broad knowledge of applied radiation physics and associated areas within medical physics.
6. Specialist level of knowledge across the full range of working procedures and practices in radiation safety, non-ionising radiation and diagnostic radiology physics.
7. Expert level of knowledge in radiation safety, and diagnostic imaging physics as appropriate to the role.
8. Knowledge of non-ionising imaging techniques.
9. Highly specialist knowledge of a wide range of diagnostic imaging equipment and computing equipment.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of employment procedures and practices
2. Experience of acting as an MPE in mammography physics.
