Thesuccessful applicant will work together with a fully supportive Nursing, HCAand phlebotomy team. They will be supported and work alongside a large clinicalteam of GP partners and other Health Care professionals.
We use EMIS as our clinical system and have 18,000 patients and growing!
We haveregular clinical and non-clinical meetings to manage and continually improveour patient care. We are passionate about training the next generation ofworkforce and for many years have been a teaching practice.
Main duties of the job
Actingwithin scope of practice undertake general practice nurse duties for examplewound care, support and manage health needs of women presenting for familyplanning and cervical cytology consultations; implement and participate invaccination and immunisation programmes of children and adults; advise, supportand administer vaccinations as required for travelling abroad.
Work withother health professionals to diagnose, monitor, manage and treat long termconditions.
Prioritisehealth problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex,urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergencycare.
To maintain contemporaneousand accurate medical records; utilising electronic patient information systemagreed templates and coding protocols.
To ensurethe clinical environment is fit for purpose and ensuring compliance withinfection control measures, clinical waste disposal, safety of equipment andstock control (including Drug and Vaccine storage).

PRACTICE NURSE

HOURS: circa 20 per week
Job Summary:
The Practice Nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients of Practice.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
2. Cytology
3. Wound care /ulcer care/Doppler
4. Removal of Sutures
5. New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis
6. Travel Health
7. ECGs
8. Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry
9. Venepuncture
10. Hypertension Management
11. Ear syringing
12. Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
13. Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinicians
14. Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
15. Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
16. Interest Chronic disease management and Contraception.
17. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
18. Other tasks will include:
19. Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
20. Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
21. Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.
22. Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
23. Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
24. Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
25. At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
26. A duty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
27. Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required
