My client is the world leader in the design and manufacture of skid-mounted rotary compressors for the oil/gas, chemical/petrochemical and energy/power generation industries. They are currently in need of a Sales Engineer to join their team in Stonehouse.
ROLE: The Sales Engineer will provide timely, accurate quotations for compressor packages through interpretation of application requirements, dealing with technical and commercial queries whilst providing a high-quality service to global customers.
DUTIES:
1. Reading customers' enquiries, including data sheets, project specifications, P&IDs, and terms and conditions.
2. Selecting appropriate materials of construction, flow control, sealing systems, lube oil systems, cooling, acoustic attenuation and instrumentation for new compressors and compressor packages. Advising customers on these according to their needs.
3. Performing calculations, for example to size equipment such as compressors, motors, auxiliary systems and components.
4. Writing RFQs for suppliers.
5. Estimating costs and calculating selling prices.
6. Writing proposal documents and supporting documents for bids.
7. Maintaining accurate records of opportunities and bids.
8. Attending meetings with customers.
SKILLS:
1. Customer focused, solutions orientated and strive for excellence.
2. Highly numerate - higher education or training in engineering, mathematics, technology or physical science. A mechanical engineering qualification would be the most suitable.
3. Knowledge and understanding of rotating machinery, such as pumps, compressors, and mechanical seals and their support systems, and of fluid handling equipment, such as piping, valves, pressure vessels, heat exchangers and measuring instruments.
4. Experience in the Engineering sector.
5. Commercially aware, with knowledge of sales and marketing techniques.
6. Exceptional communication and organisational skills.
7. Confident in the use of Microsoft applications, especially Excel and Project.
8. Team Player.
