GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join schools in Cosham. You’ll work closely with students who require additional support, helping them overcome barriers to learning and thrive in their educational environment. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your role will involve providing one-on-one and small-group support, assisting students in managing their individual learning goals. You’ll collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to implement tailored learning strategies, ensuring that every child receives the support they need to succeed. SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities: Assist students with diverse SEN needs in their day-to-day learning activities. Implement IEPs and EHCPs under the guidance of teachers and SENCOs. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Support students in developing essential social and communication skills. Help manage challenging behaviours, using effective and appropriate strategies. Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff. Encourage independent learning and resilience in students. Qualifications and Skills required for an SEN TA: CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare preferred. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Education, or related field is advantageous. Experience in schools as an SEN Teaching Assistant is desirable. Strong understanding of supporting students with conditions like ASD, ADHD, or SEMH etc. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
