Role Overview
This role will be accountable for planning and managing the end-to-end accounting and compliance processes associated with CUK’s Corporate Accounting, and overall consolidation of results, to ensure that prime entries are accurately accounted for and controlled. Responsible for the overall integrity of the CUK general ledger and internal reporting processes to Corporate, you’ll also provide ad-hoc technical accounting advice and project support as required. Developing initiatives to streamline or automate processes to drive out inefficiencies and improve performance.
This is a great position for a qualified accountant to join the business - providing the opportunity to own the Financial Accounting processes and gain visibility through collaboration with key stakeholders across Carnival UK and the Corporation
Responsibilities include:
1. Planning, managing and reviewing accounting processes to ensure timely, complete and accurate financial information, including operation of effective journal and balance sheet processes
2. Overall month end close for CUK and associated reporting to Corporate, as well as Quarterly reporting to Corporate and all associated deliverables
3. Ensure areas of accounting judgement are clearly managed, flagged in advance of any movement and simply communicated. Identification and resolution of issues where they arise
4. Ensure team provides adequate insight to the drivers of accounting performance to enable Finance Business Partner teams and internal business customers to understand and control their areas of accountability
5. Drives SOX compliance for any controls within area of accountability
6. Reviews deliverables for Corporate, internal & external auditors and any other relevant bodies
7. Subject matter expert (SME) for all associated accounting processes, systems and all policies relevant to role, as well as coaching and developing the teams SME knowledge
Position Requirements
Our ideal candidates are those who possess not only the technical skills required for accounting but also a passion for finance and a keen eye for detail. Your academic background and professional certifications in accounting will be the foundation of your role within our team.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
8. Qualified accountant – ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent
9. Practice or Audit experience/ or experience in a control focused Financial Accounting role
10. Experienced of managing month end accounting processes desirable.
11. Good level of application and system knowledge (any experience of Oracle, Blackline, Power Bi – advantageous but not essential).
