Are you passionate about working with people and looking for a new and exciting challenge to develop your skills within an inpatient mental health care setting? A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full-time Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team at the Step Forward Centre, a rehab ward for adults aged 18+ who require some additional support to build important life skills and a level of independence as part of their recovery journey.
As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will:
1. Assist in the assessments of functional ability.
2. Deliver individualised treatment plans and support recovery and transition from hospital to home.
3. Work collaboratively with the wider MDT both on the ward and in the community.
4. Be involved in the service development at the unit.
5. Work independently in specific areas as directed by the senior practitioner once competent.
6. Organise your own day-to-day tasks, exercising judgement and referring to senior staff issues outside your scope of practice.
7. Undertake specific specialist delegated tasks that are occupational therapy focused and are in line with assessed needs.
8. Contribute to assessments under supervision and direction of the Senior Practitioner (Occupational Therapist).
9. Utilise specialist standardised observational tools as appropriate and under supervision.
10. Plan and implement treatment interventions in partnership with the Senior or Clinical Practitioner, patients and carers in consultation with colleagues.
11. Monitor and evaluate the outcomes of interventions in partnership with the Senior Practitioner or Clinical Practitioner.
12. Take account of the particular communication needs of individuals and groups in order to overcome communication barriers.
13. Provide advice and direction regarding occupational therapy related issues to individuals and groups.
14. Facilitate links with local statutory and voluntary organisations to increase knowledge of resources available in the community.
