To support the educational, social, and emotional development of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role involves working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where students can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support:
* Assist the teacher in delivering tailored lessons that meet the needs of students with SEN and SEMH.
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to students, helping them engage in learning activities.
* Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) under the guidance of the SENCO.
* Support students in developing literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
Behaviour and Emotional Support:
* Use de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour strategies to support students in managing their emotions and behaviours.
* Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and self-confidence.
* Help create a structured and calming learning environment for students with SEMH needs.
Pastoral Care:
* Provide emotional and pastoral support to students, ensuring their well-being.
* Work with students to develop coping strategies, resilience, and emotional regulation skills.
