We have an exciting opportunity to join the Asset Directorate as the Head of Capital Delivery reporting directly into our Chief Asset Officer. This is a function providing leadership for the core capital programmes, overseeing capital process governance, expenditure baselining, contractor management, and full project execution. A visionary leader is needed to develop and implement strategies aligned with the Directorate’s mission, fostering innovation and driving emerging trends. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, to deliver key initiatives, driving a culture of excellence, innovation, and ensuring continuous improvement in complex and uncertain economic conditions. Specific tasks will be defined based on changing business needs. This role involves ensuring commercial efficiency from early project stages, maximising investment value, managing asset-related risks, and ensuring statutory compliance. A deep understanding of the complexities of delivering large-scale capital programmes in challenging economic conditions is essential for success. Key Responsibilities Lead the strategic and tactical direction of the Capital Delivery team Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team and with delivery partners, ensuring efficiency and best practice Full accountability for delivering core capital programmes, including water production assets and infrastructure projects, ensuring quality and standards Ensure capital programme delivery solutions maximise value, rigorously challenging proposals while meeting business outcomes Lead and inform strategic financial forecasting and operational budget setting for capital programmes Ensure robust performance and quality management systems for all capital programme delivery solutions Develop a risk-based approach to capital programme solutions, ensuring a balance of asset risk, value, and strategic objectives Maintain robust management of third-party contracted works, ensuring quality and value for money Champion equity, diversity, and inclusion, aligning with Company values in the workplace Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legislative requirements, adhering to industry best practices Skills, Competencies, & Qualifications Experience leading substantial and complex capital programmes within infrastructure, utilities, power, or transportation sectors Educated to degree level or equivalent in a leadership, management or business-related subject or equivalent experience Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution or equivalent experience Strategic leadership across multiple teams and disciplines, demonstrating extraordinary leadership behaviours Expert understanding of capital delivery processes and infrastructure planning Proven experience developing and implementing capital delivery programme governance and gateway processes Commercial approach to meeting future business investment needs Ability to lead teams to meet programme/project management objectives with diverse stakeholders Proven experience of financial forecasting, budget formulation, cost control, and reporting Experience of managing and mitigating risk within capital programmes Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to navigate complex challenges Programme/project management qualification, such as PRINCE2 or APM Extensive knowledge of asset management systems and the latest digital engineering technology We recognise people want to work in a variety of different ways, this means we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements.
