We want to solve the challenges we have today as well as find answers to some of our industry’s bigger long-term challenges. Whether it's delivering water that is always good to drink, reducing waste in our processes with energy-efficient technologies, or improving visibility of the network, our 150+ strong team of innovators are working day in and day out to make it happen. If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.
Are you a proactive and organised individual who has a proven track record of being accountable? Do you have experience in water, wastewater, and/or sludge treatment process technologies? Have you worked with membrane plants, ultraviolet (UV) reactors, chemical dosing, or have experience of nature-based solutions for wastewater treatment, ASP uprating, advanced sludge treatment, phosphorus, and nutrient removal and recovery? Do you want the opportunity to coordinate batches and project solutions? Are you looking for a new challenge in an innovative and inclusive company?
With that in mind, we’re looking for a Process Engineer in our Coventry office to help us as we do this.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Process Engineer role is a key role that ensures we build the right process and technologies to meet the demands of our communities.
With over £1 billion of investment, you will be involved from inception to completion. The Treatment Process Engineering role means identifying the preferred single solution for detailed design and ensuring what is built meets our requirements at the end of the project, including ensuring process commissioning activities are completed successfully.
This includes projects to build entire new Water and Wastewater Treatment Works to supply wholesome water to our customers and to protect our environment. In three words, you will: Evaluate, develop, and innovate.
You’ll evaluate and constructively challenge process options and design choices with respect to the risk to successful water and/or wastewater treatment and the benefits to both whole life cost and low carbon effects. The ability to evaluate data from multiple resources is a key skill, and the communication skills to ensure the best solution for Severn Trent is achieved are vital.
You’ll be required to provide clear and precise reports supporting knowledgeable recommendations for water and wastewater treatment solutions and projects and develop & support less experienced team members to do the same. This will include the provision of technical reports and presenting these proposals to senior stakeholders.
This is why it's key for you to have good verbal communication skills and skills using various Microsoft Packages with a good understanding of Excel, along with process design experience.
You’ll be responsible for the technical knowledge development of the Treatment Process Engineering team and for sharing this knowledge across the wider company.
You will be constantly identifying innovative process technologies and looking for opportunities to embed new learning within the team. You will look to drive these new options into use at Severn Trent Water and actively share these successes with the sector at conferences.
When you join Severn Trent, you are joining a company that shows care for our colleagues, customers, and environment alike, always keeping our promises and working to make our community a better place.
A promise we have with this role is that there is a clear in-role progression route for engineers. Should you have room for development such as becoming an SME in one of our many disciplines (water, waste, sludge, or commissioning), there is a defined process for this.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
Having full membership status of an appropriate professional body (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, IMechE, IChemE, etc.) or a relevant degree is an extra bonus! With that said, it’s important we attract the right skill sets and those with the right experience, but we value character, positivity, and a caring attitude equally as well.
We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences, and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up and get involved. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care. Is that you?
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
Working here isn’t just a job. You can build a career at Severn Trent. We’ll reward you for it, too. We have a range of benefits that recognize great work and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the communities where we live.
With that in mind, here are just some of our favorites perks that you’ll get being part of the Severn Trent family:
* Salary starting from £36,431.14
* 28 days holiday + bank holidays (and the ability to buy/sell up to 5 days per year)
