Personal Tax Advisor - Private Client Services
The Private Tax team at EY acts for a wide range of entrepreneurial, owner managed, PE backed and AIM listed businesses together with their shareholders, in addition to family offices, private equity and hedge fund principals, large-landed estates and high-profile professional partnerships.
We aim to be trusted advisers to our clients and deliver a broad range of tax advisory services, including cash tax savings and value creation, reorganisations, international tax advisory, transactions and ongoing maintenance of the tax structure of our clients. The team is a mix of advisers providing corporate and personal tax services to these businesses, their owners and management.
The services that we deliver include tax return compliance services, advice on residence and domicile issues, transaction and reorganisation advice, optimisation of wealth from a tax perspective, and estate and succession tax advice. Our client base is a mix of UK and non-UK domiciled individuals. Our international network results in our team undertaking a high proportion of cross border tax services.
The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join EY's specialist Private Tax team based in London. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work with our excellent existing clients and intermediaries, providing a great opportunity to build and expand their network and be instrumental in winning new business.
A personal tax specialist is sought for this role however candidates with a mixed personal and corporate tax background are also encouraged to apply given the wide and diverse nature of the role and team that you would be working in.
Your key responsibilities
1. Build and maintain relationships with clients
2. Proactive business development to win new work
3. Support the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects, ensuring technical excellence and a practical/business-focused approach is taken
Skills and attributes for success
1. Technical and practical knowledge and experience in advising UK and non-UK domiciled individuals and families, particularly in inheritance tax and trusts, capital gains, and income tax.
2. Strategically and commercially aware
3. Strong client relationship management skills with the ability to develop quality outputs to clients
4. Ability to solve the complex needs of your client
5. Effective time management, ability to remain calm under pressure to meet deadlines
6. Excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral
7. Enthusiastic team player with the ability to create, sustain, and manage effective teams
8. Ensure delivery of quality work and take day-to-day responsibility of the delivery team
To qualify for the role you must have
1. ACA / CA / Tax Inspectors with full Technical Training course / Law qualification / Tax specialist qualification / or breadth of knowledge equivalent to a Tax specialist qualification
2. Strong tax technical skills
3. Business development skills, able to identify and convert opportunities to sell work
