Kronospan has grown from nothing in 1897 to the world's largest wood-panel product producer. Globally we operate over 40 large manufacturing sites with a turnover in the regional of €4.5 billion per year. We are the leader in our environmental credentials too, having led the way in producing our wood-panels from post-consumer waste, with vertical integration supporting our supply chain.
Kronospan Ltd is the privately owned £350m turnover UK operation. Which has a special place in the Kronospan portfolio, having a heritage of 50 years and being the first overseas investment.
We have ambitious plans to double our turnover in the near future. Since 2015, we have invested over £200m upgrading our manufacturing site located in North Wales, close to the Shropshire/Cheshire borders. This investment has allowed us to significantly improve our service and take market share in the UK & Ireland market by increasing production capacity, broadening our product range, maximising efficiency opportunities, improving sustainability and achieving overall operational excellence.
We also have a further exciting investment plan for the next 5 years – where an additional £200m has been earmarked to future proof the site. With planning approval already in place to install state-of-the-art sustainable energy technology, a brand new, high volume production process, and make major changes to the local infrastructure including building a new road into the plant.
