We are currently seeking a Field Operations Manager to join Thames Water on a permanent basis.
This role will be based out of Maple Lodge STW.
As the Field Operations Manager for the SSPS (Small Sewage Pumping Station) Team, you will be responsible for the management of a team of Pumping Technicians working in the field, across the West of the Thames region. In the role as front-line manager, your responsibility will be to ensure your team continues to maintain the daily management of our Pumping Assets for our customers, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
* Location – Maple Lodge WD3 9SQ.
* 36 Hours per week, Monday – Friday.
* Permanent, full-time role.
* Offering a salary up to £45,000 per annum depending on your level of experience plus a car allowance.
* You will be expected to support the Out of Hours Call-out cover on a Roster basis for which you will receive additional payment.
What you will be doing as a Field Operations Manager?
* Manage a team of experienced Skilled Technicians, who are responsible for the day-to-day operational maintenance of our Pumping Assets, across a wide area within Thames Water’s catchment area.
* Delivering and stretching your Team's performance, each with a direct link to top-level company performance, such as pollution, flooding, and customer complaints.
* Driving an industry-leading Health and Safety culture while keeping the front-line workforce safe through a reduction of incidents and near misses. Championing health and safety behaviour and policies through Technician / Site audits, inspections, and safety observations.
* Control and monitor the spending of the Team and monitor the area’s budget: ensuring efficient delivery of services by keeping OPEX spending within budget and the correct prioritisation of risk to direct CAPEX spending to areas of most need.
* Working collaboratively with the SSPS Team, which includes the Area Manager, Technical Co-ordinators and the Planning and Scheduling teams, to ensure a positive working environment that prioritises the customer. Drive high productivity and the effective delivery of Thames Water’s metrics.
* Dynamic working environment. Responding to high-profile operational events that have the potential to significantly impact our customers or the natural environment.
* You will be expected to support the Out of Hours Call-out cover on a Roster basis.
To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
* We seek an individual with a background of some operational management experience.
* You will possess excellent people-management skills, able to encourage and empower a high-performing, experienced team to drive continuous improvement of our region’s service.
* Ideally you will possess some experience in front-line waste network operations.
* You can demonstrate the ability to work within a budget and experience managing operational spending is desirable.
* An understanding of SAP and Raising and receipting work orders would be an advantage.
* A full current driving license and own transport are essential for this position.
