Teacher Vacancy
Short Heath Federation
M1-UPS3 – Maternity Cover
At Short Heath Federation, we are looking for some really special people to work in some really special schools with some really special children and staff.
We are in an exciting phase in our Federation’s development, as we are West Walsall’s Nurture Hub, leading in schools on developing restorative practice, active members of the attachment research community – amongst other things. Our practice is recognised as exceptional. Our staff are too.
We are very much a team and working that way is important to us. It benefits everyone. Our motto, ‘Every Day, in Every Way, Everyone Matters’ explains perfectly who we are and what we do. We have a very high proportion of children with a wide range of Special Educational Needs, both at SEN Support and with EHCPs. The highest proportion in Walsall in fact.
We can only do that with highly skilled and specialist staff who care deeply about doing what’s right for our children, who will always be curious and thinking about what else could work for a child if the current strategy isn’t working, who firmly believes that children sometimes communicate their love in the most unloving of ways, and will be there for them through the great times and the harder times. That’s what they deserve – no less.
If you are an energetic, enthusiastic and outstanding teacher, we want you at Short Heath Federation. You will inspire our children, ensuring they make good progress and enjoy learning. You might have just qualified, be in the early stages of your career or be an experienced teacher. Your specialism may be in EYFS, Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2. Specialisms in SEN and SEMH would be an advantage, but we’ll give lots of training anyway.
You should:
1. be an inspirational teacher;
2. create an irresistible learning experience for every single child;
3. believe that all behaviour is communication of an unmet need;
4. believe that ‘every day, in every way, everyone matters’;
5. love working as part of a team;
6. be a courageous, innovative teacher who’s not afraid to try something new and learn from that;
7. be a reflective practitioner, adapting your practice in response to children’s changing needs;
8. support our Federation Christian ethos.
We can offer:
1. a tailor-made induction programme (whatever your career stage) including opportunities for developing practice in our own and other schools in Walsall;
2. a personalised professional development plan;
3. a career coach;
4. Local Authority staff well-being programme;
5. an exciting opportunity for extensive professional development across a federation of schools, working with good and outstanding teachers and a range of specialist practitioners in all phases;
6. laptop;
7. discounted childcare;
8. ongoing weekly professional development meetings;
9. the support of a leading practitioner;
10. the best children and families;
11. opportunities to shadow other colleagues, learning from the best;
12. supportive, fun, dedicated, creative and talented colleagues;
13. opportunities to support colleagues in a range of settings;
14. an exceptionally strong Governing Body;
