Croydon CAMHS are excited to advertise 2 Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist roles within the Croydon CAMHS Crisis Team.
We have a full term substantive post (1 WTE) as well as a part time option.
Both posts are open to registered Nurses/Social Workers/ Occupational Therapists or equivalent who have experience in CAMHS or risk assessment work.
Successful applicants will form a close working relationship with peers, the Clinical Service Lead, and other professionals and networks that provide care to young people presenting in A&E.
The post holder will provide, or advise on the delivery of high quality and safe care, ensuring consistently high standards of practice and clinical excellence which comply with the Trust and their registering body. The post holder will be a positive role model to other members of the team through the practice of evidence-based care and be expected to support professional development through clinical appraisal and supervision.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful applicants will assess and manage young people presenting at Croydon University Hospital in mental health crisis and their families, carers, and related professionals. They will co-ordinate and deliver discharge planning and follow up appointments alongside CAMHS colleagues for individualised care for adolescents and their families and evaluate these programmes, ensuring high standards of practice in accordance with national guidelines and Trust policy.

Person Specification
Education and Qualification
* Registered General Nurse and/or Registered Mental Nurse and/or Registered Learning Disability Nurse.
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience working in CAMHS / acute setting.
* Experience of research-based / reflective practice.
* Experience as a preceptor / mentor.
* Knowledge of clinical governance and audit.
* Knowledge of adult and child safeguarding.
* Knowledge of mental health legislation and of the practical application of Mental Health law.
* Significant relevant clinical experience.
* Experience of working with young people presenting with possible neurodiversity.
* Knowledge and experience of working with looked after and adopted young people.
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to assess and manage high-risk adolescent clients in a variety of settings, conducting risk assessments and formulating safety plans.
* Ability to make appropriate decisions regarding the confidentiality of clients and their families, considering risks to clients, self and the wider public.
* Ability to make appropriate decisions under pressure, assessing complex situations of clients and their families within their social environment, understanding risk and resilience as well as protective factors.
* Active role in promoting mental health and well-being in young people and their families/carers.
* Advocate for all individuals, particularly those with protected characteristics; promote equality and diversity.
Other Requirements
* Empathy for service users including individuals who have experienced mental health problems.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £51,883 to £58,544 a year per annum incl. of HCAs.
