At Fairfax Meadow, Catering Butcher of the year 2023, we’re currently seeking a skilled Hygiene Manager to join our team at our Derby Head Office. The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a Hygiene Manager in food manufacturing, particularly in chilled food environments, and possess the ability to manage resources effectively, ensuring fully staffed hygiene shifts while promptly addressing employee issues. ROLE
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene within our organisation. As a Hygiene Manager, you will be responsible for managing and continuously improving the hygiene standards across the full site for all shifts, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and cleaning are maintained at all times whilst overseeing site cleaning procedures and collaborating on KPIs with management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Managing, monitoring and improving hygiene standards across the site through process checks and internal audit.
2. Liaising regularly with the General Manager and Production Managers to work collaboratively to achieve a great outcome. Carrying out regularly audits with Production Managers or appointed deputy in each area to ensure standards and improvements are made.
3. Ensuring all necessary equipment is available for use (lances, hoses, chemicals and PPE) and signed out to the hygiene operator.
4. Assisting with setting up robust cleaning procedures, ensuring that they are properly scheduled and correct hygiene/cleaning standards are set and maintained.
5. Site Inspections and System Audits against the BRC Standard (including 3rd party audits).
6. Working with the other operational teams to action hygiene standards across the site, not only those under your direct control.
7. Ensure all factory paperwork has been issued and ready to use and daily measurements of consumables are taken.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
1. Background in Food Manufacture/Food Science/Technology/Microbiology and have strong formal food hygiene qualifications.
2. Excellent communication and organisational skills are required.
3. Ability to use own initiative, be flexible and self-motivated.
4. Used to working within tight timescales.
5. Computer literate, especially all Microsoft packages.
