An exciting opportunity exists to join an established team of engineers working for one of England’s premier organisations. The position involves carrying out safety testing and assessments on a wide range of own brand products. This role would ideally suit a technically competent, outgoing individual with experience of LVD (Low Voltage Directive), Machinery Directive or other IEC product testing standards.
Product testing the product range including household appliances, power tools and small and medium size machines.
Working with the buying teams in their product assessment centre, your main responsibilities will entail:
1. Publish engineering test reports to supplier and marketing departments.
2. Creation and maintenance of product technical files and specifications.
3. Liaising with buyers and proposing technical improvements and cost effective savings.
4. Providing advice to manufacturers if required to overcome problems and short falls with their products.
5. Examination of OEM and branded consumer electronic products.
6. Assessment of performance, quality of build and safety to the relevant European standards.
7. Investigating and reporting on technical problems and issues such as product recalls.
Desirable Skills
* Familiar with Machinery Directive: 2006/42/EC, Low Voltage Directive: (2014/35/EU).
* Safety testing experience in accordance with the EN/IEC/ test standards BS EN 60335.
* HNC/D or higher in Engineering.
* Experience of Product Assessment/Evaluation.
* IT skills using the Microsoft Office suite of programmes.
* Technically capable, confident and dynamic, with a commitment to ‘get the job done’.
* Team worker, able to manage themselves and others.
* Numerate and literate in English.
