A central support office provides Financial, HR, IT, Legal, Supply Chain and other administrative services to the group companies each of whom retains its own personality and who operate across a number of catering and hospitality markets.
The WSH Legal team comprises 6 lawyers (which includes a trainee) and supports all 16 brands across 7 jurisdictions. We love our businesses and pride ourselves on understanding our industry, being true partners with our brands and finding smart, commercial and flexible solutions to managing legal risks and challenges.
Recent acquisitions provide the group with new opportunities and include prestigious locations such as Musee Du Louvre in Paris and partnerships with established chefs such as Claus Meyers in Denmark.
Job Description
Reporting into a Senior Lawyer, the main focus of this role involves reviewing, advising on and negotiating day to day commercial contracts including: client contracts (using our risk matrix and playbooks), variations / extensions, SAAS contracts and supplier terms and conditions. Supporting the Data Privacy Lead as required.
Other accountabilities include:
* Providing general support to the business on a wide range of legal matters.
* Monitoring and managing legal email inboxes.
* Assisting in the management of:
o intellectual property portfolio;
o company secretarial records;
o data protection records;
o template database; and
o knowledge hubs.
* Ad hoc legal research, including contract law and related regulations.
* Administrative tasks such as organising, managing and maintaining template documents and overseeing deadlines for multiple assignments.
* Providing guidance on new laws and regulations affecting our business across Europe.
This is an office-based role with up to 3 days per week based in either our London or Reading office.
Qualifications
What we need from you:
* Qualified lawyer (NQ to 3 pqe)
* Excellent knowledge and expertise in English commercial/contracts law with
qualifications
in England and Wales or equivalent commonwealth jurisdiction.
* Some knowledge/experience of tech contracts and / or GDPR and UK privacy laws desirable but not essential
* Highly organised with a structured way of working and considerable attention to detail, especially under time pressure.
* Able to work independently with little or no supervision.
* Able to follow instructions carefully and accurately.
* Good time-management and ability to prioritise and get the job done.
* Being a “problem solver” with a goal-oriented way of working.
* Strong expertise in office management systems (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), use of file sharing/cloud-based applications (e.g. SharePoint).
* Confidence in advising a variety of stakeholders and negotiating with external clients.
* A collaborative individual with a proactive style of working.
* Interest to grow in the role and take on new challenges.
* Willingness to support with different areas of law / new jurisdictions as the business needs change.
* Ability to forge and develop strong relationships within the team and across the WSH family.

* French language skills and / or European experience would be an advantage.

* Salary £65,000 to £70,000 per annum based on experience
