The electrical team at Hope Cement works is a key function within the maintenance team, ensuring that the electrical network is safely maintained and developed in order to support the operation of the site.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preparing detailed and accurate electrical installation condition reports, utilizing industry-standard testing equipment and software. These reports will identify any faults, defects, or potential hazards, including earthing and bonding issues, disconnection time issues, and deterioration of electrical components as part of a regime of fixed wire testing.
2. Carrying out visual and thermographic surveys of electrical equipment.
3. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date electrical documentation using computerised maintenance management systems and applications.
4. Liaising with maintenance teams to schedule and coordinate electrical repairs and upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
5. Identifying the requirement for remedial work to electrical equipment and infrastructure.
6. Contribute to the continuous improvement of electrical safety practices within the plant
7. Carrying out installation and remedial works to low voltage electrical installations and equipment.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
This role requires:
8. A strong understanding of the IEE Wiring Regulations 18th Edition (2018) and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
9. Proven experience with a variety of electrical testing procedures including, Insulation resistance testing, Earth fault loop impedance testing, RCD testing, single and three phase testing (Voltage, current, power factor) and functional testing of motor control centres.
10. Experience with emergency light testing and fire alarm testing.
11. An understanding of the different types of earthing systems and arrangements used electrical distribution.
Qualifications:
12. ONC, HNC, Level 3 City & Guilds or recognised apprenticeship in electrical installation, engineering or equivalent.
13. City & Guilds 236 Pt 1 & 2 or 2230 Level 3 NVQ 2356 / 2357 or City and Guilds 2330 Level 3 in Electrical Installation including AM1 and AM2.
14. City & Guilds 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671: 2018)
15. City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing (or equivalent)
16. IOSH / NEBOSH National General Certificate desirable
Skills / Knowledge:
17. Excellent communication, interpersonal and reporting skills.
18. A meticulous eye for detail and a strong commitment to safety.
19. Experience working with three phase equipment and motor control centres is essential.
20. Experience with emergency lighting testing and fire alarm testing is desirable.
Minimum 3 years' experience carrying out Electrical Installation Condition reports.
