Description Our client is currently expanding their team, and this has created an exciting new opportunity for a Head of Design & Planning to join the business. Reporting into the Delivery Operations Director you will own and manage a specific part of an essential build cycle. In doing so you will be responsible for managing a team that ensures the business succeeds in its corporate objectives in providing fast and reliable fibre to everyone. With a passion for technology, the candidate will work with the Delivery Operations Director to design, create, implement and deliver a robust and clear strategy for the department in line with business objectives. Using their broad knowledge of the telecoms industry, the candidate will act as the point of escalation for any identified issues or improvements across the department. Build relationships with other departments within Freedom Fibre to ensure a smooth design, deployment and operation of the network. To work closely with other departments to ensure Change Management is communicated effectively. While happy to challenge existing processes, the candidate will be responsible for creating and owning documents and processes that provide guidance and structure for the wider business. Responsible for the personal and career development of the team, including training in an outsourced environment with remote engineers. The candidate will lead design partnership meetings and maintain a strong contractor / supplier relationship Continuous evaluation of the existing build areas is required to identify potential B2B build areas, while supporting external projects and internal business projects as and when required. Provide reports for Delivery Operations Director and the wider business on progress and issues Profile Strong understanding of infrastructure type projects Understanding of managing end to end delivery of a portfolio of projects Strong evidence of people management skills Strong commercial and contractual awareness Ideally educated to a BSc with an electronics or computing background, however relevant experience will be considered Experience within the telecoms industry Previous people management experience Proficient in Microsoft packages including Excel/Word/Powerpoint & Projects Experience with planning tools such as QGIS or APX Job Offer Salary £75,000 - £80,000 depending on experience Hybrid working, Need to be able to commute to Irlam office 25 days holiday plus an extra day off for your birthday Generous pension - employer 6%, employee 3% Discretionary bonus Medical cash plan Life assurance Shut down over Christmas
