Social Worker – Surrey Safeguarding Service Location: Woking or Guildford Rate of Pay: Up to £42 per hour Contact: Locum Fred Thomas - (phone number removed) | (url removed) We are currently seeking an experienced Social Worker to join Surrey’s Safeguarding Service, based in either Woking or Guildford. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a leading local authority that places children at the heart of its ethos and advocates for best outcomes possible. Your Role As a Social Worker in Surrey’s Safeguarding Service, you will: Manage a caseload of children and families requiring safeguarding intervention. Conduct robust risk assessments using Surrey’s Family Safeguarding Model, which focuses on multi-agency collaboration to improve outcomes for children and families. Work alongside specialist adult-focused professionals such as domestic abuse practitioners, mental health workers, and substance misuse specialists to ensure a whole-family approach to safeguarding. Develop child-focused plans that promote stability and positive outcomes. Complete Section 47 enquiries, attend Child Protection Conferences, and manage court proceedings where necessary. Engage in regular supervision and team meetings to maintain best practices. Requirements To be successful in this role, you must have: A valid Social Work England registration. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. Experience in safeguarding services, including working with children at risk of harm. Strong assessment and intervention skills, with the ability to manage complex caseloads effectively. 3 years of permanent experience in a local authority Benefits Competitive pay rates up to £42 per hour.
