Business Development Manager
Location: Travelling UK-wide, typically with 1 day working from home.
Type/salary range: Full time salary commensurate with experience, plus annually assessed performance bonus.

About Aegis Energy:
Aegis Energy is accelerating the decarbonisation of the UK road freight sector. By developing a network of clean energy refuelling and recharging stations that can serve electricity, HVO, renewable natural gas (Bio-CNG), and hydrogen to vans (LCVs) and Heavy Goods Vehicles (‘HGVs’) across the UK, we will enable critical supply chains to decarbonise and lead to cleaner air in our cities and communities.
About the role:
We are seeking an energetic and organised Business Development Manager, motivated to initiate and progress early stage partnerships with major UK commercial vehicle fleets. You will work as part of a small, highly-motivated team to develop a deep understanding of the UK logistics industry, key clients, their challenges and needs. You will spend most of your time generating and managing the outreach and follow-ups to early-stage partnership discussions with UK commercial vehicle operators. You will also help shape Aegis’ customer strategy by providing thoughtful insights into the key challenges facing UK commercial vehicle operators and how Aegis can set itself up for success in this fast-moving growth market.
This role will work within the business development team and a broader commercial team. The role is hybrid based from our office, on the road, and from home, with a willingness to spend up to 4 days per week travelling to customer / Aegis sites across the UK.
Principle duties and responsibilities:
* Pro-actively generate new customer engagement leads through profiling and outreach to potential prospects, comprising primarily UK van and truck fleet operators.
* Lead and attend client meetings, deploying a consultative approach to engagement and sales that prioritises understanding fleets’ needs and informing Aegis’ product development.
* Draft and develop marketing materials needed to educate and persuade Councils, landowners, customers and others about low carbon and zero emission fuels, and to partner with Aegis Energy.
* Represent the company with energy and enthusiasm at industry events, conferences, meetings, and activities.
* Lead the organisation of our attendance at key industry exhibitions/conferences and marketing events, bringing other team members with you where required.
* Feedback customer requirements and insights into the Business Development team and Founding Directors to evolve the Aegis business plan and sales strategy over time.
* Inform and contribute to overall business planning with insight to the risk, health and safety, and operational standards and practices of the van and truck logistics sector.
* As a committed member of a cohesive ‘one Aegis Energy team’, proactively provide advice, input, recommendations, and support to other aspects of Aegis Energy’s business.
* Ensure that all customer engagements are accurately reported within Aegis’ CRM system.
Qualifications and previous experience:
* Relevant degree, equivalent professional accreditation, or equivalent practical work experience in relevant industry.
* At least three years of experience in relation to most of the principal duties and responsibilities for the role set out above, including business development, lead-generation, marketing, or sales.
* Evidence of competence with developing and managing customer engagement activities, competence to drive results and get the best out of varied stakeholders, and/or competence with developing and managing sales processes to industry clients.
* Ability to contribute to effective meetings and to deliver clear customer engagement, outreach, marketing, or sales projects, and progress reporting (orally and in writing).
* Clear and effective communication and presentation skills, to technical, and layperson audiences.
* Evidence of right to work in the UK at the expected start date of the role.
Desired experience:
* Evidence of working with LCV and/or HGV fleets. Preferably have sold one or more of the following- BEV’s, LCV/HGV at scale, charge points, energy software, fleet management software, telemetry software/hardware, or fuels.
* Basic understanding of energy and battery technology.
* Basic understanding of – Charger types ac/dc, slow/fast/ultra-fast and/or alternative fuels.
* Evidence of hunter biased sales, with strong previous sales record.
