Job Description
A leading tech consultancy in the South of England is seeking a Data Scientist to support the development, integration, rollout, and support of complex solutions for clients within defence, space manufacturing, and the public sector. This hybrid role involves working from home part-time and traveling to the office in Milton Keynes on a weekly basis, as well as occasional client visits in Wiltshire.
Key Responsibilities
* To collaborate with cross-functional teams and apply technical expertise to achieve client goals and contribute to intelligent systems powered by machine learning and AI.
* To help shape proposals for new projects in data analytics and AI, writing detailed estimates and plans.
* To build relationships with stakeholders, gathering requirements and offering insights into business processes and innovative solutions.
* To partner with academic and industry organizations to develop and implement cutting-edge methods and software solutions.
* To share knowledge, expand your network, and be willing to take on challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
* A degree in a numerate discipline, with a strong emphasis on statistics.
* High-level proficiency in Python, SQL, and Excel (or similar tools).
* Significant experience using PowerBI or Tableau (or comparable software).
* Experience with natural language processing (NLP), transformers, and handling large datasets.
* Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker and Docker-Compose.
* Confidence using Linux command-line tools.
* Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms and advanced analytical methods.
* Strong presentation skills—confident and persuasive.
* Willingness and ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC) as a minimum.
