Job Description Chief Engineer Secondary Propulsion Programme – Submarines Office Based Derby An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Chief Engineer within the Secondary Propulsion Team at Rolls-Royce Submarines. As Chief Engineer, you will be leading the successful delivery of safe, capable, Secondary Propulsion products into Dreadnought Submarine programme, which will in turn enable the UK Government and Royal Navy to maintain the nation’s enduring nuclear deterrent programme. What you will be doing: Chief Engineer, Secondary Propulsion is responsible for: Setting the overall engineering strategy and direction for Dreadnought and Astute Secondary Propulsion product programmes, to ensure customer and business expectations are achieved or exceeded. Leading the engineering team through the design, manufacture, delivery, certification and support of the Dreadnought and Astute Class Secondary Propulsion products. Flawless product safety management, working closely with the supply chain, internal teams, ship builder and end-user organisations to ensure the safety of our products is maintained at all times. The role-specific requirements: Proven ability to successfully lead and deliver complex, safety critical, engineering programmes, with the behaviours expected of a senior engineering leader in Rolls-Royce. Relevant knowledge and experience of the design, manufacture and testing of complex Electrical & Mechanical Systems, preferably submarine propulsion systems.
