Job overview
We’re recruiting now for full time (37.5 hours per week) Band 5 RGN primary care nurses to work within our prison services in HMPYOI Deerbolt.
Every day is different for a prison nurse, as you’ll work within varied roles including:
* Primary care nursing
* Minor injuries and illnesses
* Emergency and urgent care
* Health assessment and wellbeing checks
* Long term conditions
The welcome payment is payable to new candidates joining Spectrum Community Health CIC.
Main duties of the job
We are a multi-disciplinary team collaborating with other services like GP, Optometry, Dentist, Podiatry, Physiotherapy, Sexual health, Substance Misuse and Mental health. To help us deliver our extensive range of services, you’ll be a qualified registered nurse (RGN) with a passion to deliver high-quality clinical care and a commitment to the rehabilitation of offenders. You’ll be self-motivated, have a sound knowledge base and excellent communications skills.
Experience of working within the prison environment is not necessary as full induction and training will be provided.

Education and Training
* Registered Nurse Level 1 – Adult /General/Mental Health
* Mentorship / supervision/teaching / assessing experience/ training
Qualifications
* Knowledge of current healthcare issues.
* Knowledge of clinical governance audit, risk management and quality agenda
* Working within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team
* Competent in clinical practice e.g., phlebotomy, ECG monitoring
* Worked in a complex environment managing deteriorating patients
* Experience of working within a Health & Justice environment.
* Experience of health needs assessment/Triage
* Working to Patient Group Directives
* Management / Minor Injuries
* Experience of using SystmOne or willing to undertake training
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
