Cambridgeshire is a great place to work and live, with a diverse population, an urban centre in Cambridge, the historic Isle of Ely, Huntingdon and St Ives as well as more rural landscapes. Though large areas of the county are pretty low–lying, you'll find the atmosphere at the Council anything but flat.
Our vision is to create a greener, fairer and more caring Cambridgeshire, and we're already making significant progress towards this objective. If you're ready to bring your professional experience and skills to a well–managed and high–performing organisation, with a strong and ambitious culture of continuous improvement, we want to hear from you.
We know that the profile of service need is rapidly evolving, and we know that our provision will look very different in 2035. Our task is to understand the drivers of the change that's coming, and make sure that we use our scale and commissioning reach to achieve genuine system and market change. You'll help us understand what a fit–for–future commissioning strategy looks like – and make it happen.
This pivotal role will have responsibility for commissioning across Adults, Children's, and Public Health services. Working across the broadest set of services, you'll balance ensuring today's high–quality provision with planning to develop the resources, partnerships and delivery models we'll need in the future. Relationships with ICB and other NHS partners, together with the wider system, will remain at the heart of everything we do; but we also know we'll need to continue to build a strong coalition across the whole service ecology.
We're looking for a resilient and commercially astute strategic professional, with a track record of actively influencing and shaping the interface between commissioner and providers, to create a sustainable and innovative model. Your approach will be underpinned by clear, robust strategic principles, but you'll also understand when we need to be adaptable and responsive to emerging opportunities. While it's likely you'll have worked in local government in the recent past, experience of other commissioning sectors would be a distinct advantage.
