Our Chief Engineer team has an opportunity for you to join as our new Project Assurance Engineer.
In your new role, you’ll take responsibility for and lead the assurance of our Capital Projects Benefits, comparing the original intended benefits to those achieved and deriving learning and improvement opportunities from this. You’ll also play a vital role in auditing the capital project delivery processes at both initiation and completion, reviewing learning derived by others from a sample of projects and driving implementation of improvement opportunities. In addition, you’ll provide 2nd line assurance activities across our Asset Management System with a view to continuous improvement. On a broader basis, you’ll identify major risks to the business (financial, legal, and regulatory) raising suitable actions or escalations.
Your Key Accountabilities Will Include
* Selecting a sample of the projects and programmes within the Capital Investment Portfolio, ensuring selected projects undergo a post-completion/handover review and that identified improvements from lessons learned from these reviews are implemented within either the Capital Investment Programme Delivery Processes, Asset Standards, or our Operating Behaviours.
* Reviewing and auditing of project promotion processes with a view to understanding compliance and opportunities for continuous improvement.
* Reviewing and auditing of project completion processes and providing assurance that the proposed project benefits have been delivered and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
* Working with the Capital and Commercial Services PMO to provide 2nd line assurance with regards to compliance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement to the Capital Delivery Business Processes.
* Undertake assurance of the Asset Management Framework business process to assist in maintaining our ISO55001 certification.
* Identifying major risks to the business (financial, legal, regulatory) through horizon scanning and maintaining awareness of changing legislation, regulations, and progress on delivery of key capital programmes. Raise corrective actions or escalations based upon observations.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
We’re seeking our new Project Assurance Engineer to be comfortable working with senior stakeholders, business teams, or suppliers in a continuous improvement capacity to maximise opportunities to add value and improve efficiency of the Capital Delivery Process.
To be successful, it’s expected that you’ll have excellent knowledge of the technical and regulatory environment, activities, solutions, and risks associated with water and wastewater treatment and infrastructure.
You’ll be experienced in undertaking some form of auditing or inspections and have or be working towards ISO9001 (Quality) Lead Auditor Qualification to understand auditing principles and an appreciation of
* ISO14001 (Environmental)
* ISO45001 (H&S)
* ISO55001 (Asset Management)
* ISO31000 (Risk Management)
While having a high level of analytical and planning skills, including the use of data analysis and presentation tools, you will also be able to undertake root cause analysis by various methods.
You’ll also have a working understanding of large capital programme delivery processes and governance with strong internal and external relationship management skills.
A driving licence will be required, as even though you will be based from home, you’ll be expected to be in the office 2 days a week and will be traveling to meetings at other sites.
