Machinist Lathe and Miller Location: Royston, HertfordshireSalary: up to £25,000 DOE + benefitsMachinist Lathe and Miller We are a specialist manufacturer of complex high end technical products based in Royston, Hertfordshire. We are currently seeking a skilled machinist with manual machining skills and experience to join our workshop team of fabricators and machinists. This role will involve the manufacture of bespoke components from engineering drawings using manual machines including lathes, milling machines, borers and grinders, so an ability to interpret drawings and specifications as well as excellent manual dexterity are all key. Components range in size and complexity from micro components up to large multi - part fabrications. Production runs will range from one - off sample prototypes to batches of up to 50. You will also inspect the parts produced so a keen eye for detail is essential. This role will also involve the design, manufacture and refurbishment of tools used for production within the workshop. Experience of using Electrical Discharge Machining EDM would be advantageous, as would previous use of horizontal borers. If not, you must be willing to train and learn about this.We are looking for motivated Engineers who are eager to take on new challenges in the manufacture of bespoke parts, have strong problem solving skills, and are able to offer ideas for improvements for both parts and manufacturing processes. We welcome applications from candidates who have completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications. Good communication skills are important for working within the team environment and understanding safety procedures, as are time management skills. We are flexible on the industry sector from which the successful candidate will come from so long as they are able to demonstrate the skills and experience required for this position.
