Role Overview
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and ensuring the smooth running of the College’s electrical, heating and hot water systems. The post holder will be the focal point for the College’s BMS systems, ensuring that they are fully functional, serviced regularly and support the College’s sustainability agenda.
The postholder will work collaboratively with other members of the maintenance team, within a close-knit College community that values respect, teamwork, and a commitment to high standards.

Key Responsibilities
* Maintaining heating and electrical control systems and overseeing the effective operation of the College’s Building Management Systems (BMS).
* Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on the College’s electric, hot water and heating systems.
* Support the maintenance team, as required, to deliver a wider range of maintenance tasks promptly and to a high standard, working collaboratively with other maintenance team members.
* Play a key role in setting strategies and plans for maintaining and replacing plant and equipment, creating a 10-year plan.
Specific Arears of Responsibilities
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Works Projects
* Relying on trade-specific skills complete tasks forming part of the Planned Preventative Maintenance Programme and small works projects, ensuring accurate record-keeping of completed tasks.
* Assist refurbishment and improvement projects as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and Estates Manager.
Health and Safety
* Follow all health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with legislation.
* Report hazards, undertake fire safety actions, and ensure the safe use of tools and equipment.
* Stay informed on health and safety standards, undertaking training as necessary.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
Specialist qualification such as Gas Safe Certification or Electrical 18th Edition
BMS experience coupled with heating controls systems
Proven competency in electrical or plumbing and heating
Basic IT skills, including working knowledge of MS Office (Word and Excel).
Ability to organise work time efficiently, deliver results to high standards and meet deadlines.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience within a College or similar institution.
Formal qualifications in health and safety, and facilities management
