As a Process Engineer working within our Process Engineering Design group at the Humber Refinery, you will be expected to combine your excellent technical and skills with a well-developed practical awareness to contribute to the success of the business and department. Primary responsibilities will include process design for capital projects that meet project schedules and milestones and process investigations and studies. Projects could potentially include Safety, Environmental, Reliability, Returns, Energy and Sustaining along with process investigations and studies. Key Responsibilities - Performing standard process engineering calculations e.g., hydraulics assessments, control valve/orifice sizing, relief valve sizing, specifying equipment etc, - Writing management of change documentation including the production of the project FEL deliverables, - Coordinating management of change safety reviews and accurately documenting process engineering changes, - Evaluating project proposals to ensure a proportionate and cost-effective solution is implemented, - Working with Project Leaders, other engineering disciplines and Operations to deliver effective projects ensuring good communication with key stakeholders, - Potentially required to support operational units engineering team with troubleshooting and Turnaround support, - Strong, demonstrable SHE and process safety leadership both in the office and on the refinery, - Opportunities to rotate into other Process Engineering roles at the refinery such as Operations Unit Engineers - This role is mainly office-based role, but must be willing and able to go on site on the refinery and local offsite locations as required to progress assigned projects and could be part of business team process engineering rotations in the future. We are open to applications from a wide range of candidates with differing levels of experience. - Achieved a minimum 2:1 in a Chemical Engineering discipline degree - Experience in process engineering design, feasibility, concept selection and front-end engineering studies (preferred), - Oil and gas experience (preferred), - Experience performing standard process engineering calculations and developing technical reports and deliverables - Understanding of relevant UK safety and environmental industry regulations - Knowledge of relevant UK and US industry codes and standards (preferred) - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Self -motivated - Able to work on multiple projects in parallel. As a part of the UK Government's net zero ambition, the Humber Refinery is on a journey to become the Refinery of the Future. With proposed plans for a number of projects including to implement a first-of-a-kind FCC carbon capture project, the Humber Refinery is part of Humber Zero, a world scale concept to reduce UK industry carbon emissions, saving up to 8 million tonnes of C02 by 2030 from the Immingham industrial area. On top of this, the Humber Refinery is the UK's only refiner producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel at scale. It is also the only European facility producing battery anode coke, which forms a critical component for lithium-ion batteries used in electrical vehicles and in consumer electronics. Our current production of battery anode coke is equivalent to placing 1.3 million EVs on the road every year, and we are developing multiple projects to expand this capability.
