Materials Procurement Controller - FTC Until End Nov 2025

Royal Mail is looking to appoint an Procurement professional on a fixed term contract until 31st November 2025.
About the role
You will be the driving force behind scheduling the supply of materials to meet production requirements and maintain minimum safety stock levels, assessing volume requirements against planning assumptions.
You will also be responsible for:
• The Day-to-day PO order management and management of deliveries
• The management of risks to minimise impact on production schedule and take follow up actions in relation to material shortages
• Monitoring inventory levels against agreed targets, and support inventory checks to validate accuracy, minimising the risk of obsolete and excess stock impacting the business
• General non-conformance management of bought in materials, liaising with QC, the supplier and stakeholders
• Reviewing standard costs against actual and prepare new cost forecasts at beginning of financial year
• Implementing processes to agreed standards and targets and support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas of improvement
About you
You will need at least 5 years of previous experience of material purchasing, knowledge and experience of using MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems or similar would be benefical.
You also have:
• Experience using SAP (preferred)
• Experice of arranging the transportation of bought in materials and raw stock
• Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts the costs, production, manufacture and order fulfilment
• Good understanding of supply chain processes and their interdependencies
• Understanding of supplier relationships and some experience of working with suppliers
