Maintenance Operative - £29,419.00 About Us: Active Prospects is an award-winning charity which supports around 400 people each year in the south-east who have a learning disability, mental health need or are autistic. This year we are proud to have won Employer of the Year at the National Learning Disability & Autism Awards. We are now looking for a Maintenance Operative to work in conjunction with, and to support the Property and Maintenance team. Role & Responsibilities: To provide 1st/2nd fix plumbing, bathroom/kitchen fit-outs, leaks tracing, minor/major plumbing installations. To carry out maintenance work by way of a wide range of repairs/ works including, plumbing, drainage, basic carpentry/joinery, decorating, fencing, general repairs, and handyman jobs, etc. To undertake routine checks of property, household equipment, report concerns, arrange servicing. To undertake general property upkeep such as painting and decorating, window cleaning, changing light bulbs. To install (or assemble/reinstate) and move (or assist with) shelving, furniture and other household fixtures and fittings. To perform manual handling duties, eg, carrying and moving furniture and equipment in accordance with manual handling instructions and guidelines. All work must be carried out in accordance with the current operational, Health and Safety and Maintenance procedures. Responsibilities will also include: To assist ground maintenance team to maintain the gardens and review timetable of seasons for example planting of bulbs grass cutting, hedge cutting, weeding, hanging baskets and shrubs. To coach and mentor services or people we support to use and participate in their gardens, this may also include apprentices, interns or supported volunteers. To conduct work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations including assessment of the risk(s) relating to the work to be undertaken. To provide safe access and egress to properties in the event of snow, ice, flooding of other minor emergencies. To estimate the quantity and order the materials as required enabling timely completion of works and budget control. To support in project planning to produce effective programmes/schedule of work. To complete and submit weekly timesheets. Any additional office related work if required. The successful candidate will have the following Knowledge, Training & Experience: Experience in wide range of repairs, minor/major refurbishment works Experience of garden maintenance including maintenance of garden buildings Experience of exterior and interior property maintenance and basic repairs Good knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to role What are you waiting for?
