Main duties of the job
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Recruiter / Recruitment Team Leader to join the Medical HR team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
You will help bring UHS to the next level by helping us attract, source, select and retain world-class talent. You will research talent markets, network with passive candidates, and use creative sourcing techniques and recruitment strategies that will attract the best talent to UHS.
You’ll be delivering a fast, accurate, customer-focused recruitment service, and as such, you’ll need to be customer service-orientated and a committed individual who enjoys providing a first-class service to managers and candidates.
You will also help supervise operational recruitment on a day-to-day basis, providing support, management and leadership to the Medical Recruitment Team. About The Team
This role sits within the Medical Recruitment team, which coordinates initiatives related to the employment and Recruitment of doctors within the Trust. The service supports effective management and deployment of senior and junior medical staff including locum medical staff in order to support the Trust in achieving its strategic and operational objectives.
What You’ll Do
Detailed job description and main responsibilities:
* Proactively source and build talent pipelines of active and passive candidates from a variety of channels and communities; online platforms (such as LinkedIn), employee referrals, events, networks, and research.
* Work with our hiring managers to ensure the services provided meet the needs of the departments, considering current workforce issues and ensuring these are addressed efficiently and effectively.
* Work with our Employee Brand & Talent Attraction Manager to develop and implement specific attraction plans and tools to support areas of recruitment challenges.
* Develop our recruitment teams sourcing skills to attract both active and passive candidates.
* Work with the wider Recruitment Leadership team to drive continuous improvement across our end-to-end recruitment offer.
* Be responsible for ensuring the end-to-end recruitment process is delivered in line with both local and national policies; ensuring compliance with NHS employers' standards and UKVI legislation.
* Undertake day-to-day management of the Medical Recruitment team, ensuring they deliver a quality end-to-end recruitment process, meeting KPIs and ensuring a high-quality service is provided to applicants and recruiting managers. This will involve:
* Line management of the Medical Recruitment Team, including responsibility for performance, appraisals, and team development.
* Lead on the implementation of new recruitment initiatives and projects.
* Ensure delivery of a comprehensive and responsive recruitment service.
* Providing specialist guidance on advertising, selection process, contract of employment and queries relating to the terms and conditions of Medical and Dental Staff.

* Excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities within a busy team.
* Previous experience of managing / supervising a team.
* An understanding of pre-employment check compliance.
* Previous experience working in an operational recruitment role.
* Up-to-date knowledge of resourcing and recruitment processes and best practices.
* Able to build effective working relationships with managers at all levels of seniority.
Qualifications
Essential criteria:
* Evidence of continuing personal and professional development.
* Educated to degree level, or equivalent relevant experience and knowledge.
Desirable criteria:
* CIPD Level 5 or equivalent.
Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria:
* Experience of delivering a range of talent attraction, sourcing and recruitment solutions to meet specific hiring needs.
* Proven background using effective sourcing methods to hire for niche and hard to fill roles.
* Experience using a variety of recruitment attraction tools and methods, including for example LinkedIn and Facebook.
* Experience of delivering recruitment objectives/ KPIs.
* Experience of designing recruitment campaigns to attract diverse talent, both active and passive, across multiple channels/ platforms.
* Experience of undertaking pre-employment checks and monitoring performance and compliance.
* Experience of leading and/or supervising an operational team.
* Good understanding of employment law, and UK Visa & Immigration regulations.
Desirable criteria:
* Experience of delivering training to groups of individuals.
* Previous experience of medical staffing recruitment.
* Electronic Staff Record (ESR) experience.
* Evidence of advising on NHS conditions of service and Trust policies & procedures.
