About the Opportunity We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to support our Materials Science & Structural Integrity (MSSI) laboratories in Warrington, which feature corrosion test equipment operating at high temperatures and pressures. These facilities deliver a diverse range of services, mostly in support of the nuclear industry and associated markets. The key focus of this role is to provide vital support to maintaining, modifying, and building new test facilities to support our testing teams and enable us to undertake corrosion testing for our clients. The testing work undertaken supports long-term operations of nuclear plants. Key Responsibilities; - Providing a wide range of practical mechanical support services and pipefitting, including high pressure smallbore pipework. - Working safely, in accordance with risk assessments, method statements and permit to work systems. - Providing service to project and laboratory managers, ranging from maintaining, fault finding and repairing existing plant and equipment, to manufacturing components and specimens, and building new test rigs. - Ensuring all work complies with project documentation and technical specifications. - Completion of tasks to time, cost, quality to meet both internal and external customer requirements. - Provide advice on technical, safety and operational aspects based on knowledge of plant and equipment, including pressure systems and test rigs with moving parts. - Time-served apprenticeship to NVQ level 3 or equivalent as a minimum, completed in a relevant discipline. - Ability to obtain security clearance. - Experience of hands-on mechanical fitting is essential, and applicants must have excellent practical skills and experience. - Ability to work well in a team as well as individually on tasks. - Experience in fabricating, installing, and modifying high pressure smallbore pipework. Swagelok training and experience would be highly beneficial but is not essential. - Competence in the use of a wide range of tools, which may periodically involve use of hydraulic torque equipment and other specialist equipment (training will be given if required). - Possession of current lifting, rigging and forklift truck driving certificates is not essential but is desirable.
