Senior Turbine LIDAR Performance Analyst - UK
Salary - Up to £60,000 dependent on experience.
Eden Scott are pleased to be supporting their esteemed technology client with the appointment of a Turbine-Mounted Lidar Performance Analyst. This position represents an excellent opportunity for a LiDAR specialist to join a leading organization and further develop your career.
Reporting into the Director of Turbine mounted LIDAR responsibilities will include:
1. Develop, to industry acceptance, the use of evolving lidar power performance methods using CW lidar measurements. These methods will build on, and may supersede, existing techniques e.g. as defined in the current IEC standards. Through specific turbine-lidar development projects the role will generate the steps, the processing and the evidence base (through case studies) to push new methodologies towards industry acceptance and best practice. The methods explored and developed should be compared to current industry thinking and aligned, where realisable, with complementary LiDAR related metrics and approaches.
2. Develop, to industry acceptance, the use of lidar power performance induction zone methods using CW rotor equivalent / effective measurements.
3. Understand and facilitate lidar system development with reference to current wind industry best practice and criteria for remote sensor application, use and verification (e.g. IEC, DNV GL, IEA, etc);
4. Through specific turbine-lidar development projects, create the methods, the processing and the evidence base (case studies and papers) to push new methodologies towards turbine OEM and owner acceptance and industry best practice.
5. The methods explored and developed should be compared to current industry thinking
6. Provide pre-sales turbine lidar application support to opportunities identified and prioritised by the business (typically to existing industry standards /thinking).
7. Provide technical project management leadership for allocated turbine-lidar projects and activities
8. Develop analytical tools to help exploit the large and sometimes complex datasets produced by current turbine-mounted technology;
9. Perform wind turbine / wind farm analysis (with recommendations) using data from multiple prioritised projects and sources (including, turbine-mounted lidar, ground-based Lidar, conventional anemometry, SCADA data, etc.);
10. Development of data driven solutions and tools for the wind industry to exploit the advanced measurements possible from turbine-mounted lidar systems,
11. Support internal and external lidar trials and exercises to develop delivery of next generation wind energy solutions from turbine lidar (including but not limited to power performance assessment, assessment of turbulence, shear and complexity; lidar assisted control, wind turbine-lidar load assessment)
12. Support the team in the development of lidar assisted control related metrics and approaches.
13. Use results from analysis of turbine-mounted lidar systems to drive forward product improvements through engineering change processes
Requirements
14. Degree Qualified
15. Practical experience within the wind industry and / or dealing with wind industry data (cup anemometry data, remote senor data, turbine SCADA data, etc).
16. Experience of higher-level scientific tools, e.g. R, Python, Matlab, etc.
17. Holding a Drivers Licence
18. Able to work from the clients office in Worcestershire
