The role The Faculty of Engineering’s Technical Services seeks an enthusiastic and practically minded p erson to join our laboratory support team. Based in a research material testing facility, with a specific focus on composites, you will be responsible for setting-up test machines, providing training to students and academic staff, and undertaking day-to-day labo ratory support activities. Experience in operating light industrial / manufacturing equipment, or working with composites, would be advantageous but is not essential. We welcome applications from everyone with an aptitude for practical, hands-on work, regardless of experience or educational background. No direct laboratory, or engineering experience, is required: Full training will be provided. What will you be doing? The post holder will be responsible for: Setting-up material test machines and associated equipment in a light industrial environment. Dealing with support requests, in person and via email, from the students and research staff working in your laboratories. Contributing to discussions regarding upcoming projects, tests, and experimental plans. Day-to-day housekeeping, e.g., safety checks, tidying of workspaces.
