Mechanical Design Engineer
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a UK based robotics manufacturing turnkey automation solution company.

Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 benefits
Location: Rochester, Kent, ME2 4DR
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will have proven experience in the mechanical design process of industrial equipment. You must be able to develop fully functional concepts and optimize them for production. Knowledge of bespoke robot end of arm tooling and fixtures is desirable but not a requirement. Excellent communication skills are essential.
Minimum Requirements:
1. A mechanical engineering degree is essential.
2. Proven 3D CAD experience, preferably in Autodesk Inventor.
Preferred Software Knowledge and Other Skills:
1. Excellent Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, Excel, PPT)
2. Experience making Gantt charts (any software)
3. Excellent 3D CAD skills
4. Knowledge of 5s, Six Sigma or Lean beneficial
5. Excellent communication skills are essential
6. A team player as well as being able to work individually under pressure
7. Highly organised and adaptable to ever-changing priorities
8. Core knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC milling, welding and fabrication, assembly
9. Great understanding of geometric tolerances
10. Conversant about British technical and legislative standards
Responsibilities:
1. Mechanical concept design of Robotic Automation Equipment using 3D modelling
2. Detailed design using 3D modelling software
3. Design calculation and verification
4. Project responsibilities will include customer liaison, overseeing design review meetings, specifying bought-in components and costing of such, management of sub-contractors when needed, support on commissioning and testing, working closely with the senior management team making sure project deadlines are met
5. Mentoring junior staff members
6. Travelling for site surveys and customer meetings when required (UK mainly)
7. Actively take part in continuous in-house improvements
8. Take part in regular internal project update meetings
9. Creation of risk assessments from start to finish of project CE and UKCA documentation responsibilities
10. Working closely with the electrical and control teams in terms of design and technical guidance
